Are you scared of public speaking or performing on stage? Even seasoned pros experience this fear. Learn about Mary, a talented musician who struggled with stage anxiety for years after a disastrous performance. In the Dragon Spirit space, she received guidance that helped her overcome her performance anxiety in just a few weeks.
If you struggle with stage fright, this Dragon Spirit wisdom could help you, too.
Mary had a gift for music. She’d been musically inclined since childhood, mastering a variety of instruments and performing for decades. But there was just one problem.
Mary suffered from severe performance anxiety.

Please note that names and identifying details have been changed for privacy. In addition, Dragon Spirit quotes have been lightly edited for flow and clarity, but the core of the experience is represented as accurately as possible.
It hadn’t always been that way.
A few years earlier, Mary decided to master a new instrument. Her progress was going beautifully when she was invited to perform at a church gathering. While she didn’t feel she was quite ready to give a performance, she overrode her inner discomfort and agreed.
Unfortunately, it turned into a disaster. She was savaged by the audience.
From that moment on, the stage—once Mary’s second home—became a place of discomfort, nervousness, and anxiety. Stepping into the spotlight made her heart race and her breathing became tight, shallow, and rapid.
Mary didn’t always have performance anxiety. She could trace the root cause back to the church performance. This was the event that changed everything. Subsequently, she replayed what happened in her mind, talking it through with friends, reflecting on the experience and what led her to say yes to that performance. She heaped on self-judgment for not saying no and for not being at a polished enough level to play for an audience.
Finally, after many years of struggling with the extreme nervousness that accompanied any musical performance, Mary decided to face her fears head on. She decided to start playing regularly for a small, trusted audience, and hoped this would help her overcome her fears and regain her confidence.
It helped a little, but not as much as she hoped, or as quickly as she wanted.
Every performance still brought the same wave of nervousness, along with the physical reactions. It was like her body didn’t get the message that she was safe and was reliving the fear over and over again.
That’s when Mary brought her fears to the Dragon Spirit Space.
The Dragon Spirit Space is an energy vibration where you’re most able to hear messages from the Universe. One of my gifts is being able to act as a “tuning fork” for others so that you can align your frequency with that of the Universe. This helps you to connect with your higher guidance so that you can hear your soul’s wisdom.
When Mary entered the Dragon Spirit Space, the Universe nudged me to ask her for more details about the ill-fated performance.
She shared that after analyzing the situation with a friend, they realized that the event organizer had an ulterior motive. The invitation to perform wasn’t made out of appreciation for Mary’s musical talent. It was simply to fill the time with music in order to keep the audience quiet.
As Mary spoke, the Universe showed me an even bigger picture. This wasn’t an isolated incident. I sensed “bossy” energy in the organizer. Technically, she asked Mary to perform. But essentially, she bullied Mary into saying yes.
The trepidation that Mary felt about performing wasn’t just because she didn’t feel ready with the new instrument. It was because there was an energy misalignment.
The Universe shared that the organizer had a long history of trying to control others’ behavior. She treated the congregation like unruly children, attempting to silence, micromanage, manipulate, and control them.
Naturally, the congregation rebelled.
Unfortunately, the ongoing struggle between the organizer and the audience came to a crescendo during Mary’s performance. Luciano Pavarotti could have been there singing hymns and the audience would have heckled him.
The audience’s reaction wasn’t about Mary. Instead, they were pushing back against being silenced and controlled.
But Mary didn’t know that. Instead, she experienced judgment and rejection that had nothing to do with her music.
As I revealed this truth to Mary, I could sense her energy begin to change and soften. And that’s when we shifted to look at things from a soul perspective.
Here’s what the Universe directed me to say in the Dragon Spirit Space:
“People were responding from their ‘lizard’ brain, from emotion, from not their higher self. They just wanted to push back and take down the organizer and say, ‘Hey, your ideas are stupid.’
But in doing so, they did not realize the collateral damage, which happened to be you.
By saying these things and attacking the performance, they were actually attacking you. And it would have this lasting effect on you, and deprive future audiences of the joy that they receive from hearing your music.
You know this, too.
It is part of the reason why you give performances. You do not give performances to say, ‘Hey, look at me. I’m so talented. I am in the spotlight.’
You give performances because it moves people. Because you feel called to do it. Because when you see someone’s face light up, or they close their eyes and their head gently bobs to the music, you feel joy.”
As Mary’s energy continued to shift, the Universe shared additional insights into her extreme nervousness:
“Recognize that some of this is biology. If a big lion or bear comes out of a cave that you’re about to go into, the fright is so big that it imprints on us biologically. And that imprint stays with us. It’s there so that when we see caves that look similar, we have the reaction because we want to avoid the bear or the lion in the cave.
So, a similar thing has happened, only it happened during a performance. It was emotionally charged that there was an imprint. As a result, when you see a situation that is similar, you have the biological response. This is a survival mechanism.”
With this additional awareness, it was time to move onto soul-aligned next steps. Here’s what Mary was advised:
- Applaud her body for working as it is intended to work, to alert her of imminent danger. Mary was also directed to make a list of 3 to 5 criteria that were must-haves before she agreed to future performances. E.g. Audience members must pay for the performance. This would ensure that they were there to enjoy her musical talents, and there were no ulterior agendas going on. She would know she was safe during the performance.
- Mary was also guided to connect with the energy and joy she experiences when she performs and sees that one person in the crowd who is touched by her music. She was told that this energy changes her and moves her from self-judgment to expansion.
- Forgiveness was identified as her biggest block for moving forward, and she was asked to forgive herself and the organizer. To help her forgive, the Universe advised her to play a song just for herself, and for it to be a “healing song.” She was advised to allow the emotions she felt—feelings of disappointment, embarrassment, guilt, and judgment—to be expressed through her music.
- Finally, Mary was advised that before every performance, she was to remember the feeling in her heart of how her music moved people.

Less than a month later, Mary reached out to thank me. Instead of experiencing extreme nervousness, she was singing a different tune. The performance anxiety was fading into the background and she was well on her way to overcoming it completely.
That’s the power of Dragon Spirit. When you connect with the wisdom of the Universe, you discover the key to what’s holding you back. Often, it’s something that’s hiding in plain sight. And once you view the block from your soul’s perspective, transformation can happen very quickly.
